...where plus-size women find fashion, lifestyle and love tips.

I a Need New Wardrobe!

As a curvy, plus-sized woman, I’ve always had to settle for “frumpy” clothing. You know the ones…really loose blouses/T-shirts that had to be worn over my jeans/pants or skirts. No really pretty pant suits, etc. So, with a new season upon us, I started to do something about it. It was time! I began by going online to the department stores I usually frequent (was tired of driving all over town, store to store, only to come home frustrated and disappointed) and came across one that has the most amazing clothing line for us plus-sized women: target.com. Who knew? I’ve shopped at Target many times over the years, but their plus-size department became smaller and smaller, so I didn’t bother trying to find “pretty” clothes there anymore. I also found out that many, many plus-sized women also complained about this on several social medias. So I wasn’t the only one.

What made my discovery even more surprising is that I saw that Target has collaborated with lilypulitzer.com.  I discovered, is a well-known designer brand known for its resort-chic aesthetic and use of vibrant prints and patterns, and their new collection will include plus sizes! It’s a well-known, loved brand that’s chic, stylish, fun, and is known as the mother of American resort wear. This made my new shopping experience really hopeful and exciting! I needed some “color” (and fun) in my wardrobe.

As I said, plus size sections in the department stores I usually shopped at started to become smaller and smaller and they were becoming retailers that were pushing plus-size women to shop online more, versus in-store. But I found those online stores to be few and far between. So I’m really happy to have discovered this. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to start dating again and, hopefully, find “Mr. Right”. A new, colorful and pretty wardrobe would most certainly boost my confidence when meeting new men to go on first dates with!

I heard, however, that plus sizes from these Target and Lily Pulitzer collections will only be available online (but will be confirmed at a later date as more information is released). But, hey! It’s a start, right? I think this is a victory for plus-sized women and would love to see if there are any others out there who feel the same way. It seems Target is willing to try this and see if plus sizes will sell, so check it out! You might find something wonderful to wear. I, for one, don’t mind shopping online. It saves me from driving from store to store. Shopping online eliminates all that (saves me on gas, too!) and gets my orders delivered right to my door!

Another interesting find…Fashionista.com, I discovered in my research, stated regarding the Lily Pulitzer collection: “There are floral shift dresses, swimsuits and scarves, but there are also plates, lawn chairs, and beach umbrellas, all done in original, never-before-used prints designed by Lily Pulitzer’s in-house team.” Having seen that statement, it made me re-think my dining room place settings, too. (lol) I’ll definitely be looking for a new set! Who knows? I may be entertaining a new “special someone” for dinner sometime…in my pretty new clothes!

So bottom line…I’d be very interested to see if there are other curvy, plus-sized women out there who are also tired of their “frumpy” wardrobes, tired of going from store to store and coming home disillusioned and frustrated, tired of finding plus-size departments shrink, and if they’ve had any success in finding some new and fun clothes through the target.com and lilypulitzer.com websites. Our “voice” made a difference…Target listened!…so we need our voices again to post our shopping experiences. What do you say, girls? Shop til we drop?!? (lol)
